Cooper's Camp & Caravan Park |
Beautiful views of surrounding hills |
Cooper's Camp and Caravan Site is located in the centre of the Peak District National Park in the small hamlet of Edale, marking the beginning of the Pennine Way, the starting point being at the rear of the camp and caravan park. The site offers good, clean facilities in a position that provides beautiful views of the surrounding hills - Edale Moor and Kinder Scout - from every pitch. Standing in 7 acres of slightly sloping ground - that creates good drainage - the site is open all year round for up to 120 tents and 15 caravans. At the entrance to the Park is the site shop, which also houses the village Post Office, and acts as the reception area. The shop can supply most of your needs from a wide range of foods, stationery, gifts to gas supplies, freezer packs, bread, milk and newspapers. Just within the entrance to the park is a new cafe and adjacent is the Nags Head Inn. The site is in an ideal situation for walkers about to start or end their trek along the 270 miles of the Pennine Way. For the less ambitious there are many beautiful and interesting areas around Edale for peaceful walks including Logbridge, Kinderdownfall, Mam Tor, Winnats Pass, Jacobs Ladder. Further afield by vehicle can be visited such places as Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, Eyam Hall, Bakewell, Derwent Reservoir, Castleton Caverns, Chestnut Centre, etc. Easily accessible by train is the Hope Valley (Grindleford, Hathersage and Hope) and circular walks are made easy using this service. |
